Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request Process

Roxana Community Unit School District #1 requires that all FOIA requests for public records be in writing. Roxana School District does not require the completion of a standard form for this purpose.  Please direct your request to:

Please be as specific as possible when describing the records you are seeking.  Remember, the Freedom of Information Act is designed to allow you to inspect or receive copies of records. It is not designed to require a public body to answer questions. To the extent that you wish to ask questions, please call our district office at (618) 254-7544 to speak with a member of our district administrative team.

Please tell us whether you would like copies of the requested records or you wish to examine the records in person. You have the right to either option.

Roxana School District will assess a fee for records, as allowable under the Act.  You are permitted to ask for a waiver of fees. To do so, please include the following statement (or similar statement) in your written request: "I request a waiver of all fees associated with this request." In addition, you must include a specific explanation as to why your request for information is in the public interest, not simply your personal interest, and merits a fee waiver.

Description of Roxana School District

Roxana Community Unit School District #1 is a PreK - 12th grade public school district in southern Illinois. The district is governed by a seven-member Board of Education who is responsible for the district’s policies and who hires a superintendent to oversee the operations of the district. The district employees approximately 270 staff and has an operating budget of approximately $35 million per year. The district educates approximately 1,650 students across four facilities:

• South Primary School (PreK - 2nd grade)

• Central Intermediate School (3rd - 5th grade)

• Roxana Junior High School (6th - 8th grade)

• Roxana Senior High School (9th - 12th grade)
