All junior high students interested in joining Student Council are invited to attend our first meeting of the year next Thursday, September 3rd. The meeting will take place immediately after school in the High School Cafe/Media Center, located at the end of the junior high red hallway. The meeting will be over around 3:15 PM. If you are unable to make it but still want to participate, please be sure to stop by Mrs. Russell’s room next Friday to pick up an informational packet.
Junior High, your RJHS Cross Country Team kicked off its 2026 season this past Friday at Mascoutah Middle School! Our athletes competed in a 2-mile race against runners from 25 middle schools, and we had some outstanding performances to start the season. 8th grader Xander Carstens led the way with an impressive time of 13:53. Camden Norsigian finished in 14:39, followed by Jack Higdon with a time of 15:40. 8th grader Sawyer Giberson had an impressive first cross country race ever, finishing in 16:34! Our JV boys also had an outstanding start to their season! 5th grader Lucas Harder, currently in Mrs. Meeks' class, ran an incredible 14:52, with fellow 5th grader Carson Kennett close behind at 15:06. 7th grader Isaac Albers also had a great start to his season, finishing the 2-mile course in 16:06. Congratulations to all of our RJHS Cross Country athletes on a great first meet!
The Shells are back in action tomorrow in Carlinville. Good luck, runners! Cross Country athletes: You have practice today after school. Please meet in the Junior High Library, dressed and ready for practice by 3:00 p.m.
As a reminder the last day to submit your Best Buddies application is this Wednesday. Please turn those applications in to Mrs. Powers.
The first day of Shell Shack is this Thursday. For those of you who don’t know what Shell Shack is, it is a store ran by Mrs. Power’s class and you can purchase items on your lunch hour. We have squeeze squishy butter, slime and all kinds of Roxana items. Bring your cash to shop and support Mrs. Power’s class.
