October is AAC Awareness Month! AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It’s a way for people who have trouble speaking to share their thoughts, feelings, ideas, and needs. AAC can be things like a communication device, an app on a tablet, pictures, signs, or gestures. Everyone has something to say, even if they communicate in a different way. If you meet someone who uses AAC, be patient, give them time to respond, and listen to what they have to say—because their voice and ideas matter!
Here to help us with our pledge of allegiance today, is one of our very own, amazing AAC users, 6th grader- Kayleigh Lay.
